- Brain Injury Support GroupEvent Description:
Anam Cara is hosting a support group for individuals who are living with brain injuries and their caregivers; in collaboration with the Brain Injury Association of Indiana. Acquired brain injuries, including Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), can be from (but not limited to): car accidents, assaults, falls, and combat.
Brain injury affects different people in different degrees, but those who are living with a brain injury often experience similar emotions and frequently feel isolated and alone in working through them. Dealing with a brain injury or TBI can be challenging for both the patient and his or her family, but sharing your experiences with people who have had similar experiences can help. This group is co-facilitated by Stacey Garcelon and Kristy Putnam; both survivors of TBI themselves and trained facilitators.
We will meet at Anam Cara, in the Office located behind the House. (We can see the horses through the window.) Our Shared Goals so far are to:
– Provide support
– Share Resources
– Further understand the resiliency of the Brain
– Promote Self-Care, Self- Acceptance
– Share experienceWe meet Monthly on the third Wednesday of each month. Approximately every other month we will have a guest speaker. We ask that you please RSVP in advance so we have enough materials, and are able to notify you if anything changes.
