Event Category: Yoga
- Fire Yinferno w/ Karli WendorfEvent Description:
Yes, there is some benefit to stressing our tissues when they are warm as opposed to cold. The ligaments and deep tissues still receive some stress. And, for many people, it is only when their body is warmed up that they can move deep enough into a posture to get a stress into their targeted tissues. In other words, some students need to be warm in order to get any sensation or stress.
One of the hardest things to do as humans is sitting still. We have been conditioned to believe that if we slow down, become still or stagnant means that we are lazy and unproductive humans. A lot of us step on our yoga mat to die, to “workout”, to sweat and occupy our mind. I’m totally guilty of that! HOWEVER, the growth happens when we learn to sit with ourselves and be still.
Instead of seeing yoga as a goal-driven exercise, let’s look at what it was meant to be: the exploration of stillness in action. That’s what this class is for. The heat allows us to ease our way into the poses, find our edge, and hold. Creating changes in the mind, mind, and spirit.
